Lunch is back
28 March 2022
Lunch is back on at Village of Hope – With COVID-19 restrictions easing, the Jordan agency is reintroducing several programs that have been on hold for the better part of two years, including its weekly pay-what-you-can lunches. The lunches will resume April 20 and run Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. at the 2540 South Service Rd. location.
“The importance of pay-what-you-can luncheons is not just that it's open to anybody in the community and clients and there's no obligation of money or anything. But it's also a good social time,” said executive director Cheryl Keddy Scott.
Along with lunches — which are run by Rina Pennett — that will feature sandwiches, soups, chili and eventually barbecue, Keddy Scott said they’ll also have cribbage boards available and other opportunities for the public to relax and chat.
The plan is to reintroduce all their programs throughout the spring, including budgeting, income tax support and the return of the annual Easter egg hunt. More details will be released, but the hunt will take place at the King Street location at the former Jordan Public School and will feature prizes, a barbecue and 15,000 eggs.
