Another successful Toonie Turkey campaign has raised enough money to provide more than 100 turkeys to low-income families ahead of Thanksgiving weekend.
Vineland Foodland runs the campaign each year, collecting donations with the help of its customers and providing turkeys for Village of Hope’s Thanksgiving hamper program, which provides all the fixings for a full Thanksgiving Day meal.
“Thanks to Foodland for once again stepping up with food bags, and selling $2 paper turkeys to assist Village of Hope with our Thanksgiving campaign,” said executive director Cheryl Keddy Scott.
Families and individuals in the program also received a pumpkin from Monteforte Fruit Farms.
All told, the agency is providing 500 hampers to families, seniors and individuals. It also runs a food bank and provides housing and rental support programs to clients.
