Food Exchange Niagara partner, Northend Church

We were happy to be able to share some of our abundance of pasta and sauce, and ketchup with Food Exchange Niagara partner, Northend Church of St. Catharines. Photo: Welcoming Gary and Kathy from Northend Church for a food exchange this morning.
Village of Hope Niagara together with Open Arms Mission of Welland Inc have initiated a new program in Niagara Region for balancing the variety, and quantity of foods available to our neighbours in need. As foods are donated to Village of Hope Niagara and others, sometimes in bulk, and especially following our food drives, we often find our shelves full but with surplus of some foods while lacking a desired variety, or when we receive a shipment of fresh produce, often times it's of a quantity that we cannot distribute before it would spoil, even with our capacity for refrigeration. Through regional partner consultations we're able to do a food exchange, balance inventories, better serving client families, offering a greater variety of foods, while reducing food waste, and improving our timely distribution of your food donations.
