Cheryl Keddy-Scott sensed things would get busy.
“People were lining up here ahead of time,” said the executive director for Village of Hope, which hosted a food giveaway Saturday at Calvary Gospel Church in Beamsville. “There were a lot of tears, people not knowing where to turn. We’ve given out a lot of information.”
Keddy-Scott estimated there was 20,000 pounds of food that was being handed out to anyone who was in need. Items ranged from prepared cabbage rolls that were donated by Antipastos catering in St. Catharines to condiments, all the ingredients needed to make chili and more.
“We tried to get food that would go a long way,” Keddy-Scott said. “A lot of people needed this help. “They’re telling us, ‘thank you, this will have a huge impact for us.’”
